The "New" Holy Child Academy
All know that life brings great change. Schools change too – or at least they should!
With the widespread decline in religious vocations, many Catholic institutions once run by clergy and owned by the Church or a religious order must now be administered, managed and financed by committed laity. Holy Child Academy is one such institution.
The Society of Holy Child Jesus (SHCJ), an order of Catholic sisters, has reached an agreement with the trustees of Holy Child Academy to turn over the “keys of the kingdom” with the understanding that while our educational partnership will continue the governance and ownership of the school will rest in the hands of the governing body, the Board of Trustees. We expect we will serve as a model to other schools as we enter a new era of leadership for Catholic institutions.
Holy Child is “New” in other ways as well. We have just completed a seven (7) year, seven million dollar ($7,000,000) full campus renovation, that included a full refurbishment of all learning spaces, and an overhaul of all mechanical systems with new windows, air conditioning and roofs. It is now an updated, modern campus providing an ideal learning environment.
You will note in the “New” Holy Child Academy there has been a restructuring of tuition, making it more affordable for many to send their children to the only private, independent Toddler-8th Catholic school on Long Island.
The other significant change as we enter this new era is that Holy Child has reformed its middle division, now known as the Kevin P. O’Sullivan Middle School. In the belief that Long Island was ripe for a middle school with small classes (average size of 14) with a challenging “whole” child curriculum. We invite you to view our website for a comprehensive view of our offerings.
