Community Service
"For everyone to whom much is given, of him shall much be expected."
- Luke 12:48
Holy Child Academy seeks to instill in each child a sense of obligation to serve others. To that end we organize many service projects. As an example, in the 2009-2010 school year, the following initiatives took place.
"One Warm Coat" - a collection of over 400 winter coats for the needy.
Thanksgiving Food Drive - a collection of over 800 lbs. of food for a local pantry.
Senior Citizens Luncheon - a luncheon and concert given by our eighth graders for a local senior citizen center.
Change for Change - a collection of over $2,000 in change to adopt a child in Ethiopia.
MOMMAS House Drive - a collection of baby items to help young single mothers.
All seventh and eighth graders serve in some capacity around the school and in their communities. For example, some help the preschoolers at lunchtime, while others work on the school grounds, and still others provide free babysitting service.
